WELCOME

Banyule Bicycle User Group

Also known as Banyule BUG and BBUG, we are a community group who share the pleasures of cycling and socialising. No grading, competitions or racing — we join together to ride, chat, explore, have fun, get fitter, enjoy cafes all over Melbourne, advocate for improved cycling infrastructure and promote the pleasures of social cycling.

The club enjoys a wide, diverse membership. Most riders are 50+ years of age, are retired from a variety of occupations and come from a great number of suburbs. Even as far as Brighton! And the big question – are e-bikes welcome? Very definitely. Who doesn’t mind a little help up a hill?

Thinking of joining? Please come for a couple of trial rides first, to see if Banyule BUG is right for you. Introduce yourself to the Ride Leader, share a chat, plus a few contact details, and off you go with the group.

Be Seen, Be Safe

Banyule BUG recommends all riders to wear bright clothing easily seen by motorists, pedestrians and other road users, a white or hi-vis helmet and have bright flashing bike lights front and rear that run at all times.

Rides

We run five scheduled rides every week: Tuesday (two rides), Thursday, Friday and Sunday, plus occasional country and overnight adventures. Full details on the Rides page.

Routes typically run along shared trails and paths or on quiet suburban and country back roads.

Most rides start next to the footy oval at Warringal Parklands, Beverley Rd, Heidelberg. Turn into the car park off Beverley Rd.

Located on the Main Yarra Trail and River Gum Trail, it’s an ideal starting spot for riders, runners and walkers.

Full details see Rides page.
